BOOKS I WISH TO READ BEFORE 2022
I know. 2022? In four months? Does someone have control over the earth’s revolution regulator? Switched it up from a number 1 to a number 4 maybe? At least that’s what it seems like to me. And no, I don’t think this theory is crazy because I am sure the definition of crazy has evolved a lot since, you know *whispers* - 2020…
Anyways, enough melodrama, I guess. The fact is that 2022 is just parking its car right outside the house currently and will knock on our door any moment now makes me realize that I don’t have a lot of time to finish few of my reads I wanted to be done with this year. Therefore, let me introduce you to-
THE LAST MAGICIAN By Lisa Maxwell-
It’s a historical fiction with a plot revolving time travel and magic and almost everything that you expect from and love about fantasy. The book is set up in New York of 1902. The main character is Ester who’s from modern day New York possesses the ability to time travel. So, she time travels back to 1902 to prevent this heist that

had taken place back then to stop one of its repercussions and so on. I mean, who doesn’t love time travel? (My dad because it puzzles him but I can’t think of anyone else.)
All this book says to me is adventure on repeat. So, I can’t wait to read it. This is the first book, the second one’s The Devil’s Thief and the third one called The Serpent’s Curse came out in April this year. Is it just me or YA fiction writers have started overusing the word ‘Serpent’?
Never mind.
THE LAST HOURS SERIES By Cassandra Clare-
I am such a bad Cassie Clare or let’s just say- Shadow Hunter Chronicles fan, for not reading this series till now.

The first book is called The Chain Of Gold which came out in 2020 and has a solid 4.5/5 good reads rating. It’s chronologically second in the Shadow Hunter Chronicles as it’s a prequel to The Mortal Instruments and a sequel to the The Infernal Devices both of which I have read. No, I cannot put it any simpler than that. Cassandra Clare to thank everybody!
However, those who have read her do not have any problem with the way she keeps unravelling her universe in front of us. If and when you become a part of this world, you’d fall head over heels for it too. The second book in The Last Hours series is called The Chain of Iron which came out in march this year. Those who have read this series are going crazy, the reviews are wonderous. People are saying it will destroy you. This probably going to be the first one I start reading from this list. Can’t avoid it any longer.
ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE By Anthony Doerr-
This is the first and the only book I have already started reading from this list. It’s a war novel that follows the lives of two children amidst world-war 2 with oppressive German regime and annexation affecting both of them in different facets.

The Pulitzer award winning novel is known for its beautiful story telling with intricate details that sheds light how the war affected their lives because of the two perspective it presents. With how far I have come in the book, I can promisingly say that these reviews about this book are very much true. I look forward to seeing how it ends.
THE NIGHT CIRCUS By Erin Morgenstern-
This is a story about the dangerous rivalry between two incredible magicians, Marco and Celia, who have been trained since childhood for this one event.

Then out of nowhere, without any announcement or warnings the circus arrives also called Le Cirque De Rêves, open only at night; a deadly game of magical duel where only one remains standing. But before they can compete in this remarkable battle of imagination and will, they fall for each other. Nonetheless, love or not, the game must go on and they stand against each other with the one condition of the game prevailing, only one remains standing in the end.
I can't end 2021 without a solid fantasy romance. That would be preposterous. This one specifically is a very renowned book which is also the debut novel of Erin Morgenstern so I have a lot of faith in this book.
STRANGE THE DREAMER By Laini Taylor-
The author Laini Taylor is famous for the Daughter of Smoke And Bone series. I haven’t read it but I have heard this duology that Strange The Dreamer is the first book of, is better. It has an interesting plot. It tells the story of Lazlo Strange, a librarian in a fantasy world who’s fascinated by this forgotten, mythical city of Weep which has no mention in any books by its real name, neither does anyone know anything about this city, not even the people who are from Weep remember anything about it. It’s pretty much like the city has erased from people’s mind, time and history.

So, this book follows a curios young man determined to unravel the truth behind the forgotten City of Weep and ends up knowing about its dark past. Exciting plot with a lot of adventure is what I have heard about this Novel. It’s fantasy, so you and I both know what to expect. In addition to all of that, it has a ravishing cover. The fact that it’s a Duology also adds to the appeal of the book because its more convenient to read.
Hopefully you’ll find this book in the coming blogs if I read it this year which is what I at least aim to do.
THE INVISIBLE LIFE OF ADDIE LARUE By V.E Shwab-
A fantasy novel (at this point, its becoming repetitive, I know.) which set in 17th century France. A Lot of historical fantasies in this list huh? Not intended, I can assure you that. Just a mere coincidence. But this one actually has a very intriguing plot.

This Girl, Addie Larue, whose life the book follows gets into a deal with the devil that begets her with the boon of immortality only to realize its actually a curse because she may live forever but she will always be forgotten by whom ever she meets. No one will ever remember her existence. Like that she lives for centuries around different countries and cities in the globe, trying to make mark of her existence, only to get disappointed time and again. Until 300 years later, when she stumble across a young man who remembers her name. that’s all I know about book without reading it, but I am definitely excited to read it. It has good reviews, many of them say that it will get a bit slow in the middle but eventually it catches up so nothing to worry. Rest I can tell you only after I have read it. And if you read it before me, for sure let me know how you liked it.
With that this list ends. With only four months left, I am not so sure if I will be able to read them all before this year ends, but I will definitely read these eventually and then write blogs on them, it’s a cycle. Like the post if u did and please subscribe if you haven’t yet, I would really appreciate it.
